Introduced in 2008 as the first figurative piece for John Hardy, the Naga collection brings to life the Balinese legend of the dragon, a revered mythological creature symbolizing prosperity and good luck. In these legends, the dragon is known as the lover of the pearl and must dive from his volcano-top home to sea to visit his love. Each morning when he returns, his path brings water through the rice fields. The water produces a bountiful rice harvest, supporting the Balinese farmer. The collection's pieces are rich with detail and gemstones, reflecting the origins of the inspiration.

John Hardy traveled the world to draw inspiration for his unique jewelry, and settled in Bali where he fell in love with the environment and the tribal influences. He creates his jewelry designs with nature in mind, working in eco-friendly workshops and buildings that lie in organic farmland, and John Hardy takes great care to provide his employees with a peaceful work environment. John Hardy and his wife give back to the Balinese community by supporting a mid-wife clinic, initiating large recycling programs, providing healthy lunches, and recently starting his mission for “sustainable advertising.” By planting bamboo he hopes to offset the greenhouse gas emissions set off by his printing campaigns. As much hard work that John and Cynthia put into their serene quality of life, they put even more effort into crafting amazing jewelry.
