Dramatic lines, graceful curves, and exquisite materials all find harmony in this new pattern from William Henry. The Persian is a return to an early pattern (also called the Persian) that featured a different locking system and much less sculpture in the design – the original was retired in year 2000, and many enthusiasts and aficionados have been pining for it since then. Re-designed from the ground up, keeping only the dramatic upswept curve of the blade, the B11 Persian is a bold interpretation of a timeless icon of cutlery.
We use the Persian to showcase our extraordinary range of natural mother of pearl materials: The model TBT features black lip pearl – the most expensive and rare of all pearl material suitable for knife scales. As the name implies, this pearl has a ‘lip’ of black color with red and green highlights running through it. There is very limited supply of shell that has a thick enough lip, across a large enough area, to create a knife scale that captures the magical colors in this material. Model WMPC showcases white mother of pearl, a staple handle for fine knives for generations. This material is more readily available, but we work directly with suppliers to obtain the highest figure and deepest color available in the world. Turn a William Henry with white pearl in the light, and the pattern draws you in forever, though the shell is only 3/32” thick. Finally, our model DGH uses gold-lip pearl – similar to black lip in that the color is only a thin usable layer of the entire shell that must be carefully worked and finished to bring out the color and figure in each piece. None of our shells are altered in any way – we source the best material and strive to let the material speak for itself as part of our work.
Each Persian folder includes a bail, braided leather lanyard, and ostrich leather ClipCase for safe and secure carry in the pocket or purse. Every knife is engraved with two distinct numbers – a serial number on the blade and limited edition number on the leading edge of the handle. The numbers, along with the details about the knife’s construction, are listed in the included Certificate of Authenticity.
